Abstract

Motivation is important because it can affect students’ learning achievements and understanding of the materials. However, many students in Indonesia tend to have lacked motivation to learn English. It is not only caused by the position of English, teaching method, and teachers, but also attitude. It believes that students’ attitude can influence their motivation in learning English, especially their attitude towards Kahoot!. This study has three purposes which are to find out the undergraduate students’ attitude towards the use of Kahoot! in learning English, to find out the undergraduate students’ motivation level in learning English, and to investigate the influence of undergraduate students’ attitude on Kahoot! towards motivation in learning English. The study used ex post-facto design under a quantitative approach. The data had collected from 109 English Language Education Department (ELED) students batch 2019 of one of the Islamic private universities in Yogyakarta. In addition, the questionnaires used had adapted from Mansur and Fadhilawati (2019) and Fachraini (2017). The findings revealed a significant influence on undergraduate students’ attitudes on Kahoot! towards motivation in learning English. The study also found that the respondents have a positive attitude, with a mean score is 2.96. Meanwhile, the motivation is high, with a means score is 3.28 in learning English. Lastly, this study also provides recommendations for students, teachers, and future researchers.
