Abstract

The effort to improve the education quality influences the quality of the human resources. The result of education process can be seen from the students' achievement. Those who get good parenting style will also get good achievement. In education field, family is the first place where a children get the former education.
The aim of this research is to find the relation between the parenting style and the students' achievement. It is an observational analysis research using sectional cross approach. The samples of this research are 88 respondents at the age 16 to 18 years old. The instrument of this research is questionnaire about parenting style adapted from Rachmawati research. The obtained data is analyzed using Rank Spearman correlation and the result shows that the application of democratic parenting style (83%), permissive (6,8%), authoritative (10,2%). From those three kinds of parenting styles (democratic, permissive, and authoritative) combined with cognitive and psychomotor aspects result on p > 0,05. The research shows that it is not found statistically significant result between the parenting styles and the students' achievement.
