Abstract
THE EFFECT OF DURATION IMMERSION THE TEETH IN TOMATO EXTRACT (Lycopersicum esculentum MilL) TOWARD THE CHANGE OF TEETH COLOR ON IN VITRO BLEACHING TECHNIQUES
11202. the most-often material used in the teeth whitening treatment, is a caustic chemical compound when contact with the soft tissue. Therefore, we need to find a solition to safer care and better compound (Sundoro, 2005). Chemical compounds in the form of H202 also contained in tomato fruit, which is formed through the oxidation process during the fruit ripenning process (Faurobert et al.. 2007). Duration of use of materials (contact time) is one of the factors can affect the teeth whitening process. This research aims to finding out the effect of duration in using tomato extract (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) toward the change of teeth color in teeth whitening process in vitro. The research method applied is laboratory experimental In Vitro. Sample consists of 15 teeth of post extraction that were divided into 3 groups, so each group consists of 5 teeth. These samples are kept in tomato extract (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill 100%) for 1 day (13 1), 3 days (P2) and 5 days (P3). The teeth color is measured by shade guide dan spectrophotometer before and after the treatment. The measurement results were analyzed using One Way Anova test and also Post Hoc test with SPSS 15.0 for Windows. The result of One Way Anova test shows 0,185 (p>0,05) for those three applications. It means that there is no significant effect of duration of teeth immersion in tomato extract (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) toward the change of teeth color in teeth whitening process in vitro. Post Hoc test results showed duration of teeth immersion in tomato extract (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill 100%) for 3 days is get the maximum result to change of teeth color with the average range -8.138, 4.240, 3.898.
