Abstract

Cholesterol is the sterol euchariotic that take the form of precursor bile acid In sintesis in the heart and the other tissue, and could also from food that in carried by lipoprotein specific. The leaves and the guava contained the alkaloid compound, saponin, flavonoid, as well as polijenol.
The purpose of this study was to evaluated the efficacy of the ethanol extractof guava fruit in decreasing total cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. Research design using Random Test Control Group Design. The sample consisted of five groups (negative, cholesteramine, 1x3,15mg/day P.guajava extract, 2x3,15mg/day P.guajava extract and 3x3,15mg/day P.guajava extract). Male rats induced by egg yolk into the hypercholesterolemic then given ethanol extract of guava pulp with different doses for 25 days. Data was analyzed using one-way anova test.
Result showed no significant difference in cholesterol treatment control group (F=1,038; p>0,05). On triglyceride levels are significant differences between the control group with treatment group (F=5,54 ; p<0, 05) shown by Post Hoc test are significant differences between treatment group with the positive contro group (cholesteramine), p<0,05. Wheares between treatment groups with the negative control group there was no significant difference, p>0.05.
Conclusion of the ethanol extract guava fruit donot have significant levels of total cholesterole and blood triglyserides in white rats in the induction became hypercholesterolemic with intake of egg yolks.
