Abstract

The Influence Efektiveness Essential Oil of White Ginger (Alpinia galanga) and Essential Oil of Red Ginger (Alpinia purpurata K. schism} Toward Growth of Fungi Candida albicans
Nliranti Hakim ABSTRACT
The infection human disease with is causes by fungi in Indonesia still in high relative and antifungal medicine is still in less relative than antibacterial, so that should be done the development. The alternative solution with can be done to solve the problem is to increase using plant with has medicine in community. One of plant which has been used by Indonesian people as medicine is Alpinia. There are two kind of Alpinia, such as Alpinia galanga and Alpinia purpurata K. Schum. Essential oil of Alpinia galanga and Alpinia purpurata K. Schum contains antifungal effect. The aim of this research is to examine the influence and difference effectivity of essential oil of Alpinia galanga and essential oil of Alpinia purpurata K. Schum to the growth of Candida albicans by using an inhibition zone (radical zone) essay. This research design is an experimental laboratory study research invitro by well difusion methode. At 12 petri dish contains gel of sabouroud dextrosa and cultured Candida albicans, it has 4 well in each peti dish. Each well has a diameter of 5 mm and a depth of 3 mm. This research use essential oil of Alpinia galanga by concentration 8%, 10%, 12% and essential oil of Alpinia purpurata K. Schum by concentration 8%, 10%, 12% each of concentration wich is examine by 8 well. The inhibition zone (radical zone) were measured with sliding caliper with 0,05 mm accuracy and recorded. The data is evaluated by two way Annava and LSD005. The result test of two way Annava, essential oil of Alpinia galanga by concentration 8%, 10%, 12% and essential oil of Alpinia purpurata K. Schum by concentration 8%, 10%, 12% has influence the growth of Candida albicans significantly, p=0,00 (<0,05). Essential of Alpinia purpurata K Schum by concentration 12% is optimal concentration to inhibit the growth of Candida albicans with the mean of inhibition zone (radical zone) at 14,06 mm. There in different between essential oil of Alpinia galanga by concentration 8%, 10%, 12% and essential oil of Alpinia purpurata K. Schum by concentration 10%, 12% but there is no difference significantly in concentration 8%. Essential oil of Alpinia purpurata K. Schum is more effective than essential oil of Alpinia galanga in inhibiting the growth of Candida albicans.
