Abstract

Argentina is a Latin America country that has a poor economic history. The hyperinflation in Argentina is the one of the worst crisis in the world. This research aims to discuss about the dynamics of Argentina's relationship with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Then, this reasearch tries to answer why Mauricio Macri reconcilies Argentina's relationship with the IMF. Since transition from the dictatorship to the democratic one, Argentina has an economic crisis continually. Moreover, in 2001 Argentina officially announced that Argentina can not pay its foreign debt (default). On the other, IMF also officially announced that IMF would not lend a debt to Argentina in the next year. After that, the relationship between Argentina and IMF tend to get worst and when Argentina led by Nestor Kirchner, in 2006, their relationship is over. Although Nestor Kirchner was replaced by Cristina Fernandez, Argentina relationship with IMF is still the same. After Mauricio Macri being elected in 2015, the Argentina's foreign policy to IMF has changed. Macri reconciles Argentina's relationship with IMF. That policy is different with two president before Macri. The reason are first, Mauricio Macri is the center-right who wants to make a liberalization Argentina's economic. Second, Macri wants to increase Argentina's economic which is stagnant so he could make welfare of its people.
