Abstract

The urgency for bringing English oral skills that integrates listening and speaking skill in teaching EFL required activity for teaching oral skills must be seen in the classroom. This research examines activities for teaching oral skills lecturers implement and the challenges in teaching oral skills faced by the lecturers. The data in this research was obtained by observing three classes and interviewing three lecturers who taught classes focused on listening and speaking as an integrated skills in English Language Education Department. The researcher did three times observations. The researcher used open, analytical, axial, and selective coding to analyze the data. The researcher discovered that lecturers applied discussion, information gap activities, role-playing and simulation, and presentation. The study also revealed the obstacles that lecturers often found in the class, which are students’ anxieties, students’ participation, students’ tendency to use L1, and class management.
