Abstract
Anxiety in responding to questions is a problem caused when students find it difficult to answering questions on the material, which can affect their achievement motivation. The aim of this research is to find out the level of students’ anxiety in responding question, the level of students’ achievement motivation, and the correlation between students’ anxiety in responding question and students’ achievement motivation during online language class. This research used quantitative approaches and the design was a correlational study. This research was conducted at a private university, specifically at the English Language Education Department (ELED). The respondents of this research are students’ from ELED batch 21, and the instrument of this study is questionnaire. The students’ anxiety in responding questions is low level with the mean score was M= 59.90, SD= 10.83. Meanwhile, the mean score of students’ achievement motivation was M= 79.27, SD= 8.47 means high categories level. Based on the score of significance value is (0.193 > α = 0.05), the H1 was rejected means there is no significant correlation between students’ anxiety in responding question and students’ achievement motivation during online language class. The researcher assumed that both variables are not correlated because anxiety in responding questions does not affect students’ achievement motivation. Therefore, each variable has other factors that can support the high and low level of both variables.
