Abstract

Anxiety plays important roles in students’ learning. Anxiety can influence students’ performance in English learning. This study aims to determine the factors of students’ anxiety and find out the strategies to overcome their anxiety. This recent study employs a quantitative method using a survey as a research design. The data in this research was collected using questionnaire adapted from Al Tamimi (2016) and Kondo and Yang (2004). The researcher used total sampling technique, and the participants were 187 students of senior high school in private school at Yogyakarta. The results reveal that there is main factor that makes students’ anxiety in EFL classroom that is students’ beliefs with the total mean score is 2.84 and the main strategy used by students to overcome their anxiety there are preparation and positive thinking with the total mean score is 3.23.
