Abstract

This article aims to analyze the Japanese government's policy towards increasing China's military power. The return of the Japanese government in the hands of Shinzo Abe was accompanied by the rise of China's "Rising of China", the event increased China's military and economic power skyrocketed. Pacifism and the Yoshida Doctrine which influenced its military security and foreign policy made Japan's dependence on the US military security force since its defeat in the second world war. His concern about the power of China that threatens stability in the East Asia Region (Security Dilemma) has strengthened the alliance relationship between Japan and the United States. However, Japan also needs China as an economic cooperation partner with a large market need. Therefore, Japan is trying to maintain its cooperation between the two countries using a hedging strategy. The research method that the author uses in the article is a qualitative research method, with data in the form of a narrative sourced from observation activities, and extracting documents. The author uses Foreign Policy Theory and Hedging Strategy which will be used to analyze the strategies used by Japan in the Shinzo Abe era.
