Abstract

This thesis explains how Indonesia's success in hosting the 2018 Asian Games is from the perspective of soft diplomacy. Indonesia's goal to host the 2018 Asian Games is a form of national interest which seeks to be able to play an active role in the international sphere. one of them is in the field of sports by hosting the 2018 Asian Games. The selection of the host was carried out by the OCA (Olympic Council of Asia) where at that time there were three country candidates, namely Vietnam, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates. Until Vietnam was chosen to host in 2012. In 2014 Vietnam withdrew due to the country's economic factors. To get this position, Indonesia uses the concept of soft diplomacy in 2014- 2018 as a supporter to get this position. The aim of the national interest to use soft diplomacy as an effort to get the 2018 Asian Games host position is said to be successful because it is very effective and efficient. Until Indonesia hosted the 2018 Asian Games
