Abstract

Rapid technological development in addition to having a positive impact on society, technological developments also pose a new threat to society. The threat is in a new dimension called the "cyber world". In this dimension, the threats that occur become cross-border issues. This threat is a special concern for each country because the impact is unpredictable. So that readiness is needed in terms of cyber security in creating special mitigations regarding cyber threats. Cyber attacks that attack critical infrastructure in a country have a “domino effect” that affects society in general. One of the cyber attacks that attacked critical infrastructure was the Colonial Pipeline attack in May 2021. This attack caused chaos in the fuel supply in the United States for one week and caused panic buying for the people of the United States. This article aims to explain the efforts made by the United States in mitigating cyber disasters through policies and actions taken by the government as securitizing actors.
