Abstract
Kepel (Stelechocarpus burahol) is a fruit plant that is the identity of the Special Region of Yogyakarta which is efficacious for health and beauty. The benefits of the kepel plant are not only in the fruit but also in the leaves. The compounds contained in kepel leaves include phenolic and flavonoids. The height of the place to grow is one of the environmental factors that affect the physiological processes of plants in the form of secondary metabolism. This study aims to determine the effect of different heights of growing places in the Special Region of Yogyakarta on the phenolic and flavonoid content of kepel leaves. Kepel leaf extraction was carried out using the maceration method, while the total phenolic and flavonoid content were tested using a colorimetric method using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that the highest yield of kepel leaf extract was 6.50% at an altitude of 23 masl. The highest phenolic content of 88.0067% and the highest flavonoid content of 20.0233% was obtained at an altitude of 23 masl. The lower the altitude where it grows, the higher the total phenolic and flavonoid content of the kepel leaves produced.
