Abstract

In a company or organization, communication is very important so that the goals of the company or organization will be easy and focused. Such communication can be carried out from superiors to subordinates, subordinates to superiors, and fellow subordinates. In companies or organizations, in addition to having to improve work performance, they must also have or be able to increase work motivation that can be done by the leadership. So, this study aims to find out the influence of leadership communication on the work motivation of the staffs of the Communication and Informatics Office of Sleman Regency. This research uses quantitative methods. The data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires in the form of Likert scale as a measuring tool with a total of 89 respondents. The data analysis technique in this study used simple linear regression analysis test and partial regression test (t- test). The data processing was carried out using the SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) 16 program. Based on the result of the simple linear regression test, the result obtained in the regression equation was Y = 7.633 + 0.471, which meant that the X variable was in the position of 0 point, and then the Y value of 7.633 did not change. Meanwhile, in the X regression of 0.471 which meant that every addition of 1 % of the value of the leadership communication variable, the participation increased by 0.471. The regression coefficient is positive. Thus, it can be said that the direction of influence of variable X on variable Y was positive. The result of the simple linear regression test based on the significance level of the Coefficient table was significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. So, it can be concluded that the leadership communication variable (X) affects the work motivation variable (Y).
