Abstract
Background: Globally, someone over the age of 18 years is less in doing physical activities in the form of sports, the participation of the Indonesian people is still in the poor category. Regular exercise can increase HDL cholesterol levels by 5- 10%. HDL cholesterol is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome. Objective: This study aims to explain the effect of physical exercise on the lipid profile of HDL cholesterol in adults. Methods: The research used is a literature review study using the PubMed and ProQuest databases. By entering the specified keywords in the 2 databases and filtering the search with articles published in the last 5 years from 2016-2017, full text articles, and using English articles. Issue articles using literature review and systematic review methods. Results: The research obtained by screening titles and summaries of 1,712 articles obtained 14 articles that will be duplicated in the Mendeley Bibliography, checking the duplication obtained 11 articles that will be selected for full text, after selecting the full text with the supervisor and obtained 5 articles. The results of the study from 5 articles stated that physical exercise performed with the intensity, duration, and duration of the intervention can affect the increase and change in cholesterol lipid profiles in adults. Conclusion: The results of a review of 5 articles in the literature review showed that by doing regular and structured exercise with moderate to strong intensity with a maximum hate range of 75% - 80% and a day duration of 30 and 45 minutes with an intervention duration of 12 and 24 weeks affected changes and improvements in the lipid profile of HDL cholesterol.
