Abstract
Background: Online games are games that can be played or used by many people from teenagers to adults through an internet connection. In Indonesia, there are 60 million gamers who use smartphones and it is estimated that this will continue to increase. Online games can cause a person to become addicted to online games, which can affect work productivity. Work productivity is a comparison between the results achieved with the overall resources used per unit of time has added value, and how to do it better. Research objectives: This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of online game addiction and work productivity in adults in South Jakarta. Methodology: The method in this study design used is correlational quantitative. The subjects of this study were 95 people who played online games in the South Jakarta area. Collecting data in this study using Game Addiction Questionnaire and Adaptation of Individual Work Performance Questionnaire. Data processing uses Spearman rank correlation which is processed by SPSS. Results: The results of this study indicate that the significance value (p-value) in the significance column is p = 0.04, the correlation is -0.291 and the direction of the relationship between the online game addiction variable and work productivity is negative. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the level of online game addiction and work productivity in adults in South Jakarta.
