Abstract
Background : Patient safety is an important priority in health care and vital in quality nursing care. One of the incidents that occur in hospitals that can result in injury and even death to patients undergoing treatment is the incident of a patient falling. Knowledge and behavior are closely related to the commitment of nurses in an effort to build a culture of patient safety and are one of the factors that influence KTD and KNC. Objective: To find out the level of knowledge and behavior of nurses in preventing patients from falling at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital. Methods: This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. The sample of this study were 41 nurses who were taken using the Simple Random Sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. Results: The results showed that the level of knowledge of nurses was high as many as 36 people (87%) and good behavior as many as 29 people (70.7%). Conclusion : The majority of nurses have a high level of knowledge and good behavior. So that nurses are expected to be able to maintain the level of knowledge and behavior in an effort to prevent patients from falling, and hospital management can provide support through the provision of seminars and training, especially on preventing patients at risk of falling to the maximum
