Abstract
Transportation is an important component to support mobility, so the transport servce should be improved essepecially to achieve safer roads. The research was conducted on the road segment of Sanden - Murtigading ,which is an alternative road to the poupular tourist beach. One of the causes of potential accident on this road is the mismatch of road geometric which leads to accidents. Therefore, the research objectives are to identify accident characteristics, conduct road safety inspection (RSI) to Bina Marga Guidelines Pd.T-17-2005-B, analyze road geometric conditions using AutoCAD Civil 3D, analyze the relationship between volume capacity ratio (VCR) with speed, and accident rates. The research method used is quantitative by analyzing primary and secondary data. Data from Bantul Resort Police on the Sanden-Murtigading road section showed the number of accidents were 45, the types of accidents were front-side 25 (55.56%), front-front 2 (4.44%), front-back 7 (15.56%), side-side 6 (13.33%). The results of RSI showed that the width of lanes, shoulders and drainage did not meet the minimum width requirements, some shoulders were not paved and some roads did not have lighting and road markings. Based on AutoCAD Civil 3D, there are 12 bends with 7 (59.34%) bends that did not meet the minimum radius and 8 (16.3%) of the 49 slopes did not meet the requirements based on slope while based on visibility there are 25 (51%) curves that did not meet the requirements. The relationship between VCR and speed is inversely proportional, namely the higher the VCR value, the lower the speed. The relationship between VCR and accident rate is that the higher the VCR value, the higher the accident rate.
