Abstract
Pipeline transmission technique is an engineering technique about the structure of pipes that is often used as a distribution system for oil and gas. The splicing process or commonly referred to as the welding process is an important part of pipe transmission techniques. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the potent angle variation V of SMAW welding on microstructures, hardness values (Vikers), and the bending power of butt joint joints on API 5L X46 materials. On the CY-III Lomanis-Rewulu Pipeline Development project by PT. Nindya Karya (Persero) needs efficiency to shorten the work. By minimizing the effective angle can save the use of welding wire so that it can reduce the cost of pipeline production. The material used uses API 5L grade X46 pipe with SMAW welding. Angular variations used are 45°, 50°, 55°, and 60°. Testing on weld results with bending and NDT RT tests uses API 1104 standard, hardness tests using ASTM standard E92-82, and metallographic tests using ASTM standard E340-15. From this study obtained the results of a comparison of the value of bending power from an angle of 45 ° of 3930 MPa and an angle of 60 ° of 3910 Mpa. The highest average hardness scores in HAZ and WM areas were obtained at an angle of 60° with hardness values at HAZ of 166.88 VHN and 179.56 VHN on WM. The larger the angle of the V the more weld piles, the smaller the grain size in the HAZ and WM areas. The larger the joint angle V the more piles of weld. The greater the joint angle V, the greater the hardness value and the smaller the bending strength value.
