Abstract

The road is access that connects places in the land. According to Law Number 38 of 2004 concerning roads, the definition of the road is a land transportation infrastructure that includes all parts of the road including complementary buildings and equipment. However, road construction is not accompanied by good maintenance, causing various problems. One of the road damages that occurred in Indonesia is caused by puddles above the road surface and a fairly high level of rainfall. Therefore, the use of porus asphalt as a layer of the road surface can be used as a solution to the problem. In this study, coarse aggregates held to 3/8" and No.4 sieves in porus asphalt mixtures were replaced with steel slag aggregates with variations of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% with asphalt content of 6.5%. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the use of steel slag waste as a substitute for part of the coarse aggregate with a retained sieve size of 3/8" and No.4 with a percentage of asphalt content of 6.5% using a marshall test methods, Cantabro loss, and Asphalt Flow Down. The specification used in this study was the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association (2004). From the results of studies that have been carried out, it shows the test results of steel slag as a substitute for coarse aggregates held by 3/8" and No.4 sieves in porus asphalt mixtures can increase the values of density, VFA, marshall stability, flow, marshall quotient, and AFD. Meanwhile, the values of VIM, VMA, and CL have decreased.
