Abstract
Sleep apnea in infants is a condition in which the infants stops breathing for about 10 seconds while sleeping. The problem in this study is if sleep apnea in infants is treated quickly so that this condition will not have a bad impact on their health, but if left untreated it can be fatal. One way to provide breathing assistance to babies when experiencing sleep apnea is to provide tactile stimulation to the baby to stimulate spontaneous breathing in the form of tapping or flicking the soles of the feet or rubbing the baby's back, stomach, chest or legs with the palms of the hands. This study aims to replace manual tactile stimulation with the vibration stimulation method on the soles of the baby's feet using a DC micro 10x3mm 3V vibration motor. This device uses a flex sensor that is attached to the infants stomach to detect breathing of the infants stomach. When the flex sensor detects a stop of breathing for 10 seconds, the flex sensor will provide input to the microcontroller to activate the vibrating motor and an alarm to warn the nurse. In this study using the linear squential model (LSM) method which consists of 4 stages, namely the stages of analysis and literature study, system design, electronic system assembly and testing. In testing the tool as much as 30 times, the results of the alarm work well and the frequency value when the vibration motor is active is 330 Hz with a number of vibrations of 3300/10s, which indicates the vibration motor is working well. The results of testing the time when sleep apnea was detected which was carried out 30 times got an error of 0.4%. When viewed from the results of the error value obtained, the performance of the tool is in the good category because it is still within the tolerance value limit of 0.5%.
