Abstract
Background: The belief in Hinduism, especially in Bali, teaches about near death or Pacang Seda, where like someone changing his old clothes and it is important for someone to experience the last time of peace or shanti. Quality care for dying patients is determined by the understanding of the signs the patient is facing from Pacang Seda and the caring attitude of the nurse. The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of nurses in dealing with clients near death (Pacang Seda) in Bali. Methods: This study used a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach with the number of participants as many as 8 nurses who have experience in dealing with clients near death (Pacang Seda) in Bali. The stages of the data analysis process use the steps in the Colaizzi method (1978). Results: The results of the study found 4 main themes, namely 1) Emotional Response, 2) Connection between Medical and Pacang Seda, 3) Family Strengthening, 4) Pacang Seda Care. Nurses are in a special position, because patients can find peace in the face of death and leave a positive impression or grief for the family left behind. Conclusion: Nurses in providing care for patients who are facing death and their families will generate emotional responses and link the medical and Pacang Seda. As a family strengthening, nurses have the responsibility to help convey information regarding the condition of dying patients and Pacang Seda Care is carried out by Hindu nurses in Bali, to provide a peaceful death journey process.
