Abstract
Along with the increasing human population and the development of technology, the need for fuel is also increasing, but the reserves of petroleum resources derived from fossils are increasingly depleting due to their non-renewable nature. Biodiesel is a renewable fuel made from vegetable and animal oils. In this study, the raw material used was biodiesel from used cooking oil. This study aims to obtain the fuel characteristics of used cooking oil biodiesel in the form of power, specific fuel consumption, and fuel injection characteristics. This study uses biodiesel fuel variations of B05, B10, B15, B20, B25, B30 and diesel by testing physical properties. In the test using a single cylinder diesel engine connected to a genarator with a load of 5 lamps with a power of 500 watts each. Then test the diesel engine performance, test fuel consumption, and injection characteristics. The results showed that overall pure diesel fuel has a higher or most wasteful power than biodiesel with variations of B05, B10, B15, B20, B25 and B30. In the injection characteristic test, it shows that pure diesel fuel has the largest spray angle. While the biodiesel fuel variation B30 has the smallest spray angle.
