Abstract

EFL students’ responses towards the implemented post-reading activities were
studied. The first objective of this study is to explore post-reading activities used in EFL
classrooms in a university context. The second objective of this study is to explore EFL
students’ responses towards the post-reading activities implemented. To find out and analyze
more accurate information, the researcher used qualitative method. The researcher
interviewed two lecturers, observed the Learning Management System and asked the
lecturers for four students names from the English Language Education Department as the
participants for this study. All the participants were from batch 2018, because they had just
completed a semester which contained theoretical courses with various reading assignments
and activities. The researcher used interviews and observations as data analysis. The activities
that found out in this study are group presentation, summarizing and reading quiz. Overall,
students gave positive responses towards those activities. The positive responses towards
group presentation activity were: 1) Group presentation made them read the reading material
meaningfully. 2) Students prepared the presentation material really well by read the reading
material. 3) Group presentation lead students in gaining new information, ideas and
developing their insight from the reading material they read. The positive responses towards
summarizing activity were: 1) Summarizing supported students read a lot of journal articles.
2) Summarizing helped students in doing the next assignments. 3) Students got new
information and understand the connection between the journal articles. 4) Summarizing was
a challenge for students. The positive responses towards quiz activity were: 1) Quiz
motivated students to read. 2) Quiz improved students reading comprehension
