Abstract
Like other countries, Nigeria as one of the countries in the
African region also faces security problems caused by the Boko
Haram terrorist group. Boko Haram has become the biggest
threat to Nigeria's security stability since starting its uprising in
2009. This group was founded in 2002 under the name Jama'atu
Ahlis Sunnah Ladda'awati wal-Jihad which means that they are
Muslims who are bound by the Prophet's education for the
spread. Islam or da'wah and Jihad. Boko Haram was originally
formed as a social group that demanded justice from the
Nigerian government because of the imbalance in industrial and
infrastructure development in Southern Nigeria which was
more advanced than in northern Nigeria. Taking refuge under
the word 'Jihad', this group has started to carry out many
activities as a form of its rebellion since 2009. In the rebellion
efforts carried out by this terrorist group, they carry out various
attacks aimed at the center of the crowd, detonating bombs,
killing and also kidnapping some of them. most of the victims
of his kidnapping were women. The kidnapping is considered
as Boko Haram's strategy to negotiate with the Nigerian
government to return their detained wives and families. This
paper then tries to analyze why Boko Haram uses women as
their negotiating instrument with the Nigerian government.
