Abstract

This study aims to explain the reasons for Indonesia to accept the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) investment, which is a joint venture project owned by China. Improving the Indonesian economy is one of China's efforts to realize the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) project. The investment that entered Indonesia from China had a lot to do with the economy in Indonesia. The concept of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is used in this study to support the analysis of the reasons for Indonesia to accept China’s BRI investment. The method used in this study uses qualitative data analysis techniques. The selection of the qualitative method aims to explain in more detail the phenomenon under study, in this case the reason why Indonesia accepted BRI investment. The data used are literature studies obtained from books, journals, and official websites. Indonesia considers that this project is a good opportunity to develop its connectivity and infrastructure, and can strengthen its position in the global market. In its implementation, cooperation between the two countries continues to increase which has a significant effect on the development of the Indonesian economy, although it cannot be denied that there are many obstacles that need to be faced.
