Abstract

The influence that is felt due to the globalization of KPOP which has become a major phenomenon in the world recently which also occurs in Indonesia not only adds to the variety of new cultures in Indonesia but also affects the way people think. Masculinity in Indonesia which was previously associated with the impression of “manly” or manhood and represented by the male body and of course by gender has now developed into a representation by including a “feminine” element in it, causing gender instability to be displayed. This makes the author wants to research how the globalization KPOP can change gender perception in Indonesia. With a research question “How is K-POP influence gender construction according to K-POPERS in Indonesia?” and by using two theoretical frameworks namely globalization theory and queer theory. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The results of research through interviews prove that gender construction in Indonesia began to change when K-POP entered Indonesia with the concept of soft masculinity.
