Abstract
The seventh grade of junior high school is a place for children who are transitioning into early adolescence. In the early adolescence era, there will be a growing process towards physical, social, and psychological maturity. In the process of early adolescent growth, one of the supporting factors is physical fitness.Physical fitness is the ability of the human body's endurance to do various activities of daily life without feeling excessive exhaustion and still have the remaining energy to do others activities. A person can be categorized as having a good level of physical fitness which cannot be separated from the value of tolerance for physical exercise load. One of the simplest examples of physical fitness training is the daily walk. Walking is an aerobic exercise that is easy to practice to increase cardiovascular endurance. This research is a quantitative research with a correlation between walking habits and physical fitness index. The research design was conducted with a cross sectional approach by using the Spearman Rank correlation statistical test and simple linear regression. The sample in this research was involved 86 students with a total sampling technique by using the Harvard Step Test for physical fitness measurement and a walking habits questionnaire. The results of this research indicated a significant correlation between walking habits and physical fitness index with p value of 0.019 <0.05.
