Abstract
On June 5, 2017, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the United
Arab Emirates cut off their diplomatic ties with Qatar. The
termination of diplomatic relations was triggered by accusations
that Qatar supports extremist groups such as the Muslim
Brotherhood, ideologically, politically and financially. Qatar's
foreign policy which has always been independent has triggered
the disharmony of Qatar's relations with Saudi Arabia. In addition
to terminating diplomatic relations, Saudi Arabia and its allies
have also taken coercive actions to subdue Qatar, such as: The
embargo of land, air and sea routes from and to Qatar up to 13
demands that Qatar must fulfill. Saudi Arabia's coercive action is
considered by Qatar as an unreasonable and baseless act to
interfere with its sovereignty, so that Qatar refuses to soften even
though the coercive actions taken by Saudi Arabia and its allies
have an impact on Qatar's food and flight stability. It is interesting
for the author to examine Qatar's strategy to overcome this impact
without sacrificing its independence. This research uses qualitative
research methods that are literature studies with the theory of
International Cooperation by KJ Holsti.
Based on the analysis conducted, the results show that Qatar's
strategy in dealing with a diplomatic crisis is to carry out
international cooperation with Iran and Turkey in the fields of
food, aviation, to the military.
