Abstract
Bottom ash is the residue from burning coal by the PLTU to get electrical energy from steam. From the burning of coal, there are two wastes called bottom ash and fly ash. The use of bottom ash as a substitute material for sand is quite good because bottom ash has components and shapes that are almost the same as sand but still have differences in the properties or characteristics of bottom ash and sand. By becoming a building block of concrete, it is hoped that bottom ash waste can be reduced and can become an alternative / main material for concrete. In this study, bottom ash which is used as a substitute for sand has variations, namely: 30%, 40%, and 50% of the weight of the sand. The concrete treatment methods used in this study are water curing and sealed curing. The bottom ash sample used comes from the Steam Power Plant located in the Jepara area and has been processed so that it is ready to become a constituent material for concrete, bottom ash is supplied from PT. Concrete Business Varia. Based on the split tensile strength test in concrete with 30% bottom ash variation, the optimum value is 9.66 MPa with the water curing treatment method and 28 days of concrete age, for concrete with 40% bottom ash the optimum value is 10.22 MPa with the water method. curing and 28 days of concrete age, and for concrete with 50% variation of bottom ash, the optimum value is 9.17 MPa with the water curing method and the concrete age is 28 days. Based on the test, it is known that the greatest split tensile strength is at the bottom ash variation of 40% with the water curing treatment method and the age of the concrete is 28 days, because in the 40% variation of bottom ash, the concrete can be well hydrated compared to the variation of 30% and 50%.
