Abstract

This article is intended to explain South Korea's Government to eradicate the Gender Pay Gap in its country. South Korea has been known for the gilts and glamor of its entertainment industry such as K-Pop and K-Drama since the explosion of their culture worldwide. It is safe to say that the richness of culture is being represented through these entertaining yet lucrative outlets. However, despite the massive success of the South Korean Government spreading its influence and positive image through media, apparently, the gender pay gap in South Korea unfortunately still be one of the prominent problems that left the government no choice but to tackle it once and for all. Obviously, this is not a light subject that can be solved over a night and this is the reason why this thesis tries to find how does the South Korean Government tackle this particular issue. The method that is used in this thesis is qualitative methods where the utilized data is secondary data. The result shows that the patterns of “norms” in South Korean society where it predominantly expected women to quit their jobs and take upon roles as mothers, right after they got married then this pretty much where the issue's lies and eventually it becomes difficult to eradicate
