Abstract

This paper discusses the issue of Aboriginal people in Australia in gaining constitutional recognition as the first nation in the Australian Constitution. Racism and policies issued by the Australian Federal Government in the past have had a lasting effect on the lives of Aboriginal people which has affected their well-being to this day. Socio-economic disadvantages, inequality in various areas of life when compared to non-indigenous Australians. The success of the 1967 Referendum in fact still leaves several problems related to Aborigines, namely in articles 51 & 25. They demand Constitutional Recognition as Australia's first nation as well as an Aboriginal voice in self-determination and involvement in the making of laws that govern them, are things that Aboriginal people demand to Australian Government. Advocacy is also addressed to the United Nations as a party that can pressure the Australian Government. This is what the Aboriginal movement in Australia is trying to advocate with the involvement of its actors who are described in the advocacy coordination triangle. Supporting Work as a data provider and raising funds; Base Work will build mass, socialize and campaign: Frontline Work will bring demands to the Australian Government and the United Nations
