Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. The key to successful TB treatment is patient compliance in taking medication. This study aims to determine the factors that influence patient compliance in using antituberculosis drugs based on published research data. This research is a literature review. Literature review is a survey of scientific articles, books, and other sources relevant to a particular problem, field of research, or a theory that provides a description, summary, and critical evaluation of the works. This study used 15 articles to review the factors that influence patient adherence to treatment. The results showed that factors related to the level of TB sufferers in treatment included: Knowledge, attitudes of TB sufferers, attitudes of health workers, family support, individual characteristics of sufferers, perceptions of sufferers, health communication, role of cadres, socio-economic support, motivation to recover, supervision of taking medication (PM), age, side effects of drugs, over-estimated, cost, distance, education, health behavior, lack of food, poor communication by health workers, belief in traditional healing, unavailability of close health services, stigma and discrimination, ethnicity.
