Abstract
Mount Merapi is one of the active volcanoes in Indonesia which has the most frequent eruptions. Damage and losses during the 2010 eruption reached 3.56 trillion, consisting of the housing, infrastructure, economic, social and cross-sectoral sectors. Although they often experience eruptions, they do not make farmers leave their homes. The purpose of this research is to find out the perceptions of agroforestry and nonagroforestry farmers on the dangers and risks in the disaster-prone areas of Merapi. Knowing the level of relationship between age, education, social interaction, and government support with the perceptions of agroforestry and nonagroforestry farmers. The research was conducted in the disaster-prone areas of Merapi with a radius of 6-10 km from the peak of Merapi, namely the villages of Jemowo, Tlogolele, Krinjing, and Glagaharjo. Sampling was carried out by purposive technique as many as 139 farmer agroforestry and 130 non- agroforestry. The analysis used was the average score test, and the Spearman rank correlation with the SPSS application. The results showed that farmers' perceptions of Mount Merapi and the frequency of its impact were in the moderate category, besides that farmers usually fled without bringing any goods, and for the impact itself, namely that agricultural land was severely damaged but no family was killed. Overall, the factors of age, education, social interaction, and government support have a very low level of relationship.
