Abstract

This study aims to gain an in-depth understanding of the meaningfulness of life in HIV / AIDS sufferers from the perspective of spirituality and what factors affect the meaningfulness of life and spirituality of HIV / AIDS sufferers. This research method is qualitative with descriptive design. Data collection methods are interviews and observations. The subjects in this study were 3 people with HIV / AIDS who were transgender / homosexual. The results of this study indicate that the three subjects in the study possess meaningfulness by interpreting life after being diagnosed along with developments in the aspects of spirituality. The results of this research are spirituality that is owned and believed by the three subjects as a medium, the control tools, and motivators presented by the subjects with several positive life dimensions, namely; (1) the three subjects improve the faith to Allah and got to know Allah better. (2) The three subjects have an expectation of having a better life for the future. (3) The three subjects value life more after diagnosis. Factors that influence the achievement of the life meaningfulness in the three subjects in this study are internal factors, namely religion / spirituality, self-understanding / self-concept, acting positively, work. Meanwhile, the external factor in achieving meaning in the life of the three subjects is the familiarity of relationship and love. Meanwhile, the factors that influence the emergence of spirituality in the three subjects in this study are internal factors, namely experience and needs. In addition, the external factors in the emergence of spirituality of the three subjects were environmental factors that formed the spirituality of the three subjects with HIV / AIDS
