Abstract

Along with the development of the times have been widely done benefits from a compound content that was previously unknown. And one of them is compound 1-(2,5- dihydroxifenyl)-(3-piridin-2-il)-propenon, synthesis of kalkon derived compounds. Kalkon is one of the types of flavonoid derivatives, kalkon compounds and derivatives have several activities that can be utilized in the field of pharmacy, such as; antiplatelet, anti-bacterial, immunodulatory, anti-hyperglycemic, anti-inflammatory. Escherichia coli bacteria are gram-negative bacteria that are anaerobic facultative, and the impact that can occur after contaminated Escherichia coli bacteria is acute diarrhea. The study aims to find out if the compound 1-(2,5-dihydroxyl)-(3-piridin-2-il)- propenon has antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli bacteria. This study used KLT (Thin Layer chromatography) and melting point test to analyze the purity of compound 1-(2,5-dihydroxyl)-(3-piridin-2-il)-propenon, for antibacterial activity testing of compound 1-(2,5-dihydroxyl)-(3-piridin-2-il)-propenon against Escherichia coli bacteria using well diffusion method with concentrations of 4.55 μg, 8.33 μg and 11.54 μg. Compound 1-(2,5-dihydroxylfenyl)-(3-piridin-2-il)-propenon does not produce the diameter of the bland zone at a concentration of 4.55 μg, 8.33 μg and 11.54 μg, allegedly due to compound 1-(2,5-dihydroxylfenyl)-(3-piridin-2-il)-propenon has an N group in one of its aromatic rings when viewed from its compound structure. And also the properties of gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli that has a multi layered cell wall structure and complex with the outer membrane can work as a barier of various compounds that are included in the antibacterial compound. Based on the data obtained, it can be concluded that compound 1-(2,5-dihydroxyl)-(3-piridin-2-il)- propenon cannot inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria.
