Abstract
This study aims to find out the learning-by-doing strategy in Islamic Education learning in building student discipline character at SD Muhammadiyah Ambarketawang 3. The type of research used was qualitative. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The observations were taken to find out the general description of SD Muhammadiyah Ambarketawang 3 by obtaining information about the characters expected to be developed by the students at SD Muhammadiyah Ambarketawang 3. Interviews were conducted to collect deeper information related to the characters built and the learning strategies used in the Islamic Education subject. From the documentation, files or documents and photos can be collected to be used in this study. The results indicate that 1) the learning strategy used in the Islamic Education subject is the learningby-doing strategy. 2) The learning strategy used is able to facilitate the discipline character building of students at SD Muhammadiyah Ambarketawang 3 through practical learning or learning done outside the classroom (outdoor). 3) The character built from the learning-by-doing strategy in Islamic Education learning is the discipline in worshipping activities
