Abstract
This study aims to examine the impact of organic matter on the cultivation of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata S.) in NaCl contaminated coastal sand soils and establish appropriate doses of organic matter in improving the growth and yield of sweet corn sweet corn crops (Zea mays saccharata S.) in NaCl contaminated coastal sand soils. Experimental research was conducted at the Green House Faculty of Agriculture, Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta. The experiment plan used is compiled in a Factorial Complete RandomIzed Plan (RAL) using two factors. Factor 1 includes B0 = 0 t/ha of cow manure, B1 = 15 t/ha cow manure, B2 = 30 t/ha cow manure, B3 = 45 t/ha cow manure and Factor 2 include N1 = 1,000 ppm NaCl, N2 = 2,000 ppm NaCl, N3 = 3,000 ppm NaCl, and N4 = 4,000 ppm NaCl. Each combination of treatment is repeated 8 times. Observation parameters include the height of the plant, the number of leaves of the plant, the diameter of the stem of the plant, the fresh weight of the plant, the dry weight of the plant, the weight of the corn cob and the weight of the corn cob without kelobot. The results showed the provision of organic matter in the form of cow manure can reduce the impact of NaCl pollution and increase the growth and development of sweet corn plants (Zea mays saccharata S.) in coastal sand soils and the provision of organic matter in the form of cow manure by 15 t / ha can increase the yield on sweet corn crops (Zea mays saccharata S.) and sweet corn plants (Zea mays saccharata S.) is tolerant of NaCl contamination up to 4,000 ppm.
