EVALUASI KESESUAIAN LAHAN UNTUK TANAMAN VETIVER (Vetiveria zizainoides) DALAM UPAYA KONSERVASI SEMPADAN SUNGAI SERANG DI KECAMATAN WATES KABUPATEN KULON PROGO YOGYAKARTA

The study, entitled "Evaluation of Vetiveria (vetiveria zizainoides) Land Suitability in Conservation of Serang River Border Land in Wates Subdistrict, Kulon Progo Regency" aims to determine land characteristics and evaluate the level of land suitability for vetiver plants. The research was conducted using a survey method, and the results of the information obtained were analyzed using a matching procedure based on FAO to ensure land characteristics and evaluate the level of land suitability. The analysis showed that the rainfall in Wates District was too high for the vetiver crops. Meanwhile, the average temperature is not suitable for vetiver crop production and is an insurmountable inhibiting factor. The results of the analysis of the CEC value were included in the medium category with very low to low base saturation values. Soil pH has a neutral value with low C-Organic content and is low. The N content in the land is moderate. The P and K content in the land is very low to low. The condition of the Serang river border in Wates District it has danger of erosion and flooding. The land contains no surface rock and rock outcrops. The actual land suitability of the Serang river border area in Wates District for vetiver plants is S3 wa-1 with a rainfall limiting factor, S3 tc-1 with a temperature limiting factor, S3 nr-2 with a limiting factor of alkaline saturation, S3 na-2 with a factor limiting P2O5, S3 na-3 with limiting factor K2O, S3 eh-2 with erosion limiting factor, S3 fh-1 with flood limiting factor. The suitability of potential land on the Serang river border in Wates District for vetiver plants based on FAO standards is S3 which means that marginal suitability with temperature is a limiting factor
