Abstract

Introduction: Physical activity and sleep duration are increasingly recognized as important lifestyle contributors to health. However, among academics like students these days it is disorganized. Less active physical activity in DIY Province has increased from 2013 to 2018, from 20% to 25.2%. This behavior if it lasts a long time can increase the risk of high systolic blood pressure. Aims: To see if there was a correlation between physical activity and sleep duration on a systolic blood pressure among PSIK UMY students. Method : Quantitative research with a descriptive correlational design and cross sectional approach. A total of 98 respondents with simple random sampling, collected data using the IPAQ, STQ questionnaire, and measuring blood pressure with a sphygmomanometer. Statistical test using the Spearman rank correlation. Finding: The results of this study showed the correlation between physical activity and systolic blood pressure, the p value is 0.009, and sleep duration with systolic blood pressure is p value 0.026. The implication of Research: There is a significant relationship between physical activity and sleep duration on systolic blood pressure in PSIK UMY students
