Abstract
Patient safety is a system that exists in hospitals, where the hospital makes care for patients to be safe. The incidence of falls in patients is one of the serious patient safety problems in a hospital, especially in hospitalized patients. The incidence of falls can be found anywhere in every health care institution, and occurs in the entire population, both in adults and children. In pediatric patients, the incidence of falls is more often not reported because basically it is often considered a natural thing as a child's growth and development period, namely when learning to walk or when children like to climb and then falling incidents occur. Basically a fall incident can result in injury to the patient which should not have happened. One way to reduce the incidence of falls in patients is to prevent falls in the hospital. This research method uses a research design using a literature review with Ebscohost, Google Scholar, and Pubmed databases with article limits from 2016 to 2020. The search results of articles in each database are entered into folders, then duplicated using Mendeley, then title and abstract are screened. After that, the article is read in its entirety and selected according to the inclusion criteria that have been determined in this study. Appropriate articles will be reviewed. The results of the study explain that fall prevention in pediatric patients can be done, among others, by assessing the risk of falling in patients using the Humpty dumpty fall scale, placing a fall risk sign on the patient, conducting fall risk education, and paying attention to environmental safety for patients. In conclusion, there are several interventions that can be done to prevent falls in pediatric patients, namely conducting a fall risk assessment, installing risk signs, keeping the environment safe for patients and educating the risk of falls.
