Abstract
Introduction: Cupping (Hijamah) is a type of wet cupping therapy in which the skin is torn and blood is drawn into the cup so that the morbid substance is evacuated through the scarified skin. Cupping therapy (hijamah) is carried out with the aim of removing blood from the skin using a method of sucking, then giving a light incision on the surface of the skin, then re-suctioning it so that the blood can come out and get healing with Allah's permission. Aims: Knowing the description of public knowledge and perceptions of cupping therapy (hijamah) in Kalirandu Hamlet. Method: In this study, using a cross sectional approach, which means that this research is a study that emphasizes the time of measuring or observing data once at a time, to determine the description of public knowledge and perceptions of cupping therapy. The sample was 62 people with purposive sampling stress, which is a sampling technique with certain considerations. This study used a questionnaire of knowledge and perceptions of the people of Kalirandu hamlet Finding: The results of this study indicate that the level of public knowledge regarding cupping (hijamah) is low as many as 41 people (66.1%), and the level of knowledge is moderate as many as 21 people (33.9%). For an overview of the medium category of community perceptions of cupping (hijamah), as many as 49 people (79.0%), for a good perception of 12 people (19.4%) and the last for a bad perception of 1 person (1.6 %). The implication of Research: This study was conducted on the people of Kalirandu Hamlet, Bangunjiwo, Kasihan, Bantul to find out the image and public perception of cupping therapy (hijamah).
