Abstract
Hacksaw is a tool to help the process of cutting objects made of iron or something else. Saws generally have several types, namely manual hacksaws and semi-automatic hacksaws. Hacksaws generally still use manual saws with this purpose of this final project to make a semi-automatic hacksaw toll. The design of this semi-automatic hacksaw machine tool uses an electric motor with a capacity of 0,5 hp as the main mover in a series of semi-automatic hacksaws. Other components to increase the rotation torque and so that the rotation of the electric motor is not too fast using a pulley and gear ration of 1: 12. In addition, to stop the hacksaw movement so that it does not move when cutting, an automatic switch is added to stop the movement when the cutting is complete and to from the angle of the cutting object, add a vise and a drajat arc to make it more precisely sized. It can be concluded that the design of this semi-automatic hacksaw tool can help or simplify the work of cutting iron with variations in sizes and angles from 00 to 450 by having a cut off switch to stop the movement when the cutting is complete. Based on the results of testing cutting carbon steel, the capacity value is obtained 2,4 cm2 /menit and the calculation of the power of the electric motor has a power capacity 2,5 W/cm2 .
