Abstract
As financial institutions, PT.BPR Bank Sleman and PT.BPR Bank Klaten serve to save funds from the public and channel them back in the form of credit loan. Therefore, in granting the loan, an analysis stage using 5C method (Character, Capacity, Capital, Condition of Economy, and Collateral) is used as a creditworthiness assessment and NPL (Non-Performing Loan) is used as an effective indicator of managed credit and procedure for loan granting at PT.BPR Bank Sleman and PT.BPR Bank Klaten. This research employed a qualitative descriptive analysis method focusing on the interview results with the head division of credit at PT.BPR Bank Sleman and PT.BPR Bank Klaten on credit management, loan granting procedure and internal control in handling nonperforming loans. The interview results with both parties were then compared. The findings reveal that both PT.BPR Bank Sleman and PT.BPR Bank Klaten have implemented the 5C analysis method (Character, Capacity, Capital, Condition of Economy, and Collateral), the NPL (Non-performing loan) of PT.BPR Bank Sleman in 2019 was 1,75% decreasing 0.25% from 2018. Meanwhile, the NPL of PT.BPR Klaten was 4.15% increasing 0.20% from 2018 so that the NPL was in a healthy predicate. The procedure implemented at PT.BPR Bank Sleman and PT.BPR Klaten have been in accordance with the policy of each BPR (Bank Perkreditan Rakyat or Rural Bank), and the internal control to handle non-performing credit is done in two rescue techniques namely collateral foreclosure and collateral auction.
