to be negative and uncomfortable and not useful, almost 50-54% of postpartum
mothers fatigue. Factor fatigue in postpartum mothers situational factors,
psychological factors and also babies easily fussy. The temperament of a baby or
fussy baby is an innate pattern of individuals in responding to the environment
with behavior and emotions. Postpartum mothers do not yet know the
temperament of their babies with babies both easy and difficult temperaments so
that fatigue in postpartum mothers can increase.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation of infant’s
temperament with fatigue in postpartum mothers
Method: This study uses a cross sectional correlation design study. The sample in
this study were 102 respondents with a population of 136 postpartum mothers
using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in the form of a
postpartum maternal fatigue questionnaire with PFS (postpartum fatigue Scale)
and infant temperament using ICQ (Infant Characteristic Questionnaire) was
tested for validity and reliability. This research uses Spearman’s rho.
Results: The results of this study were the level of fatigue in moderate postpartum
mothers as many as 49 respondents (48.0%). Easy baby temperament of 52
respondents (51.0%) postpartum mothers, and the results of Spearman's rho
analysis obtained p value 0.00 (<0.05) and the correlation coefficient r value of
0.690.
Conclusion: There is a relationship between infant temperament with fatigue in
postpartum mothers. The higher the level of fatigue in postpartum mothers the
infant temperament is more difficult and the lower the level of fatigue in
postpartum mothers, the easier the infant temperament.
