Abstract
Lime peel (Citrus aurantifolia) which contains flavonoids, one of which is an antioxidant, it is a huge waste and underutilized. The cream is made by using an oil phase and a water phase, one of the oil phase is Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) which is an Indonesian processeded product that is well known used as a cosmetic because of its benefits are moisturizing and soften the skin. This study aims to determine whether VCO with pineapple peel enzymes (Ananas Comosus L.) can be used as a base for lime peel extract cream, to analyze the effect of concentration by VCO with pineapple peel enzymes (Ananas comosus L.) for the physical quality of the cream, and determine the optimal formula. The method of this research is an experimental laboratory. The results of organoleptic observations shows that all have a thick shape or texture, smell of lime, and have a yellow color in formula I, slightly yellowish in formula II, and yellowish in formula III. The homogeneity test reselts that all homogeneous and the cream type test results that all types were A/M. The pH test results in average (6), viscosity (4833.33-8940 Cps), protection power (3.99-6.15 seconds), adhesion (2.61-3.60 seconds), and dispersion ( 4.87 – 5.22 cm). From all these results were analyzed by using One Way ANOVA and its results that the addition of VCO affected the viscosity and protective power of the cream with value (p < 0.05), altough the adhesion and spreadability were not affected by the concentration of VCO with value (p> 0.05). ). Virgin coconut oil with pineapple peel enzymes can be used as a base for lime peel extract cream and formula II is the best formula because it can provide optimal results.
