Abstract

This undergraduate thesis aims to discuss the role taken by Amnesty International in dealing with humanitarian crisis in the Middle East region with a focus on Yemen and Syria as a case study to analyze the forms of advocacy applied by Amnesty International in dealing with humanitarian issues in the Middle East in the aftermath of the Arab Spring event. Based on Amnesty International's survey, the Middle East region is a place with quite a lot of human rights violations. Judging from the number of cases such as armed conflict, poverty and hunger. Since the early period of the Arab Spring event in the Middle East in 2010, many people have suffered under authoritarian governments. Anyone who tries to speak out against the government, from opposition parties, public figures, journalists and human rights activists, has been arrested and imprisoned. In some countries such as Syria, Yemen and Libya, the wars that have raged have taken so many lives, that civilians are forced to choose to leave their homeland, or live under the pressure of fear. In addition, there are various kinds of acts of discrimination committed by those countries against their own citizens, so that those who remain in their countries are not given the principle of justice by the ruling regime.
