Abstract

Motivation is the one that influence the language learning achievement. This study focused on the student at the first grade of junior high school in Adipuro's motivation and compare the higher motivation between the male and female motivation in learning English. There are two research questions proposeed in this study which are how the motivation of junior high school in learning English is and which gender has the higher motivation is.
This research implemented descriptive quantitative study which involved 118 students of junior high school in adipuro. There are 45 male students and 73 female students. The instrument used in this research was questionnaire to get the data about the motivation of the students in English language learning. After collecting the data, the next step is compared between male and female scores. The data of this research were analyzed by using the statistical analysis program.
The result of this study showed that the student's motivation in English language learning was the students have high motivation in English language learning. The result of second research question was female students has the higher motivation in English language learning.
