Abstract
Reading strategies is a specific action or technique taken by learners to improve their understanding in reading process. This study aimed to investigate the reading strategies used by Junior High School students, and to investigate the most frequently reading strategies used by Junior High School students. This study utilized quantitative approach and cross-sectional survey design to collect the data. Data were collected through questionnaires from 91 respondents who were students of Junior High School at one private high school in Yogyakarta. The results revealed that the students used respectively Global Reading Strategies with the Mean of 3.7149, Problem Solving Strategies with the Mean of 4.1648 and Support Reading Strategies with the Mean of 3.7348. The result also revealed that the most frequently reading strategies used by Junior High School students were Problem Solving Strategies with the Mean of 4.1648.
