Abstract
Solar water heater (PATS) is one of the solar energy thermal technology applications that functions as a producer of hot water to meet household and industrial needs. PATS research that uses phase change material (PCM) with the (outdoor) method has the disadvantage that it cannot analyze the effect of the size of the input source on the characteristics of the heat storage media in the PATS tank. This research was conducted to obtain the heating process of the heat storage media in the PATS tank during the charging process using variations in heat transfer fluid (HTF) dischage. This experiment was carried out using the indoor method PATS-PCM system. PATSPCM system. The PATS-PCM system is equipped with a solar simulator as a heat supplier, and a dimmer is used as a voltage regulator that enters the pump. The dimmer is set so that the pump produces flow rates with variations of 2, 3, 4 LPM. The water temperature data in the tank is recorded. The test is repeated by changing the interpretation of the flow rate. Data analysis was conducted to determine the nature of thermal energy storage in the PATS tank. The results of this study are that discharges with 4 LPM produce an average temperature of HTF and PCM in a charging time of 160 minutes, and the highest heat flux of 1000 W/m2 is 37.47°C and 37.35°C, which is located in the middle. Tank. This shows that the higher the flow rate is given, the greater the HTF and PCM temperature evolution in the tank.
